As part of our Road to the Revolution series, this limited-edition tin depicts Paul Revere’s Ride, one of the most enduring episodes in the story of America’s path to independence. The commemorative release joins our broader observance of the 250th anniversary era of the American Revolution.
On the evening of April 18, 1775, Boston patriot leader Dr. Joseph Warren sent Paul Revere and William Dawes by separate routes to warn Samuel Adams and John Hancock in Lexington that British regulars were advancing into the countryside. Their principal objective was Concord, where they intended to seize or destroy military supplies gathered by the Massachusetts patriots.
After crossing the Charles River to Charlestown, Revere rode through the night, alerting households and local militia leaders along the way. Dawes traveled by land through Boston Neck, providing a second route for the warning in case either messenger was intercepted. The alarm soon spread far beyond the work of any one rider as additional messengers, church bells, signal guns, and community networks carried the news across the countryside.
After reaching Lexington, Revere and Dawes continued toward Concord and were joined by Dr. Samuel Prescott. A British patrol intercepted the three riders in Lincoln. Prescott escaped and carried the warning onward to Concord, while Dawes also fled but was unable to complete the journey. Revere was captured, questioned, and deprived of his horse before eventually returning to Lexington on foot. Although he never reached Concord, the wider alarm system had already been set in motion.
Revere was also connected to the patriot circles that gathered at Boston’s Green Dragon Tavern. The tavern served as a meeting place for the Sons of Liberty, members of the Boston Committee of Correspondence, Freemasons, and others involved in organizing resistance to British policies. It later became remembered as the “Headquarters of the Revolution.”
Named for that famed Boston tavern, our Green Dragon coffee is an East Indies blend inspired by the coffeehouses and meeting places where ideas were exchanged and history began to turn. This commemorative edition pairs that story with a rich, dark roast crafted for a full-bodied cup.

"It was expensive for the "commemorative tin", except that the Oliver Pluff logo partially covers the picture on the tin and the cheap paper the tin is wrapped with ripped as soon as I cut the lid wrap off. I wasn't paying for the Oliver Pluff logo to cover the design on the tin and I sure wasn't paying for it to be ripped. As for the coffee, who knows - I was so disappointed by the "commemorative tin" that I haven't even had the coffee yet. I would love a replacement tin. It's the least Oliver Pluff can do. for a repeat customer."

"Great coffee! I’ve never been a coffee drinker and always stuck with tea. I saw this and decided to try it, as I love Oliver Pluff’s teas. I was pleasantly surprised! It is very rich and smooth, with a taste similar to dark chocolate (the best way for me to describe it as a non-coffee drinker). Add a splash of milk and it is perfect. No sweetener needed! I will definitely be buying this flavor again!"
